The Amarillo area and Texas Panhandle region are offering days of Halloween- and fall-themed fun for families, leading up to Oct. 31, which is next Tuesday. For those looking for things to do, here is a list of more than 16 events the whole family can enjoy this week and more. These are just a few of the offerings different local groups will be hosting as the busy month of October continues. (Events are subject to weather.)
Halloween for Heroes
Halloween for Heroes will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial and Education Center (TPWM) located at 4111 S. Georgia St.
The event will include a Trunk or Treat hosted by TPWM and Boom. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume and enjoy the treats, games and more. Free hot dogs and chips will also be served.
Spooktacular on the Square
Also happening Friday, the City of Canyon is inviting out the community to enjoy its Halloween Spooktacular on the Square, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. along the Canyon Main Street in Canyon.
The Spooktacular event will include a Trunk or Treat set up around the town square, where attendees can collect candy from participating businesses, vendors and participants. Tricks will include games and activities, and treats include candy, gifts and toys.
Saturday includes a day full of Halloween fun for the whole family and plenty of Trunk or Treat opportunities.
8th annual Shi Lee’s Trunk or Treat
Shi Lee’s will host its 8th annual Trunk or Treat event Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Bones Hooks Park, located at 2000 N Hughes St.
This year’s event will also include a winter coat giveaway, where children in attendance have the opportunity to receive and pick out a new winter coat. Winter hats, gloves and hoodies will also be available.
The Trunk or Treat will include candy and games, as well as special guests including Storybridge, the Amarillo Police Department and the Amarillo Fire Department.
Emergency Trucks and Treats
Local first responders will host a Trunk or Treat event Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. on the Amarillo College West Campus Lot 6 parking lot, located in front of building A.
The event will include emergency vehicles from local firefighter stations, law enforcement agencies and more that families will be able to collect their candy from. In addition to the first responders, more than 11 local businesses will also host booths handing out candy and goodies.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume.
FWC’s Candy Corn Carnival
Family Worship Center (FWC) will host a Candy Corn Carnival 5-7 p.m. Saturday at FWC, located at 11901 Interstate 27. The event will include candy, prizes, bounce houses and more. Attendees are encouraged to attend in costume.
Kids Harvest Fest
Vida Church will host a Kids Harvest Fest event, 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the church, 500 SW 8th Ave. The festival will include face painting, activities, games, snacks and more. The event is free and open to the public.
Amarillo Auto Group’s 2nd annual Trunk or Treat
Amarillo Auto Group will host its 2nd annual Truck or Treat Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 4805 S. Washington St. The Trunk or Treat event will include candy, games and live music by Ty Blackburn.
Contagion Athletics Trunk or Treat
Contagion Athletics will host a Trunk-or-Treat event 6-9 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of their location at 8210 W Amarillo Blvd. The event will include games, activities, a hot dog eating contest, Haunted house and more.
DHDC Monster Bash
As previously reported, the Don Harrington Discovery Center with host its annual Monster Bash, available in two time slots, 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at DHDC.

Sunday includes even more fun for the whole family as Halloween nears.
Fall Festival
On Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m., the Church at Quail Creek will host a fall festival and trunk-or-treat alongside a car show.
The event is open to the public. Attendees can choose to enter the car show for $20 or view for free. The event will include a trunk or treat giving out candy and free goodies. Children can also enjoy games and activities. Local food trucks will also be in attendance.
St. Andrew’s Trunk or Treat
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, located at 1601 S. Georgia St., will host a Trunk or Treat 5-7 p.m. Sunday in its South Parking lot.
Attendees are encouraged to come in costume; candy, games and activities will be provided. Food will be served during the event.
Prior to the Trunk or Treat, families are invited to attend their “boo”-charist, a family oriented service, at 4 p.m. in the church.
Arena of Life Church Fall Festival
Arena of Life Church invites the community to its 14th annual Fall Festival, 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the church, 8827 S. Washington St.
Admission is free; the event will include bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo, games, food trucks, a dunking booth, axe throwing and more.
Children in fifth grade and younger will receive a ticket for the chance to win a free bike.
On Monday, Oct. 30, Amarilloans are invited to enjoy each of the haunted houses for a good fright. Each of the locations and what they have to offer can be seen on our previously published article online at amarillo.com.
Then on Halloween day, many local businesses and organizations will host trunk or treats and more that the whole family can enjoy.
Polk Street Methodist Trunk or Treat
On Tuesday, Oct. 31, the community is invited to the Polk St. Methodist Church Trunk or Treat, 6 to 8 p.m.
The event will also include goody giveaways such as popcorn, cotton candy and more. Children are also encouraged to enjoy the bounce houses. The event is free and open to the public.
ER on Soncy Trunk or Treat
Beginning at 6 p.m. on Halloween, the ER on Soncy will host a trunk or treat event in the United Supermarkets Parking lot located behind the ER with spooky surprises, sweet treats, and lots of fun.
South Georgia Baptist Trunk or Treat
On Halloween night from 6 to 8 p.m., the community is invited to participate in a Trunk or Treat at the church located 5209 S. Georgia with games, activities, candy and more.
Trunk or Treat at Street
Street Toyota hosts its annual Trunk or Treat Event 4:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 31 at 4500 S. Soncy Rd.
The event is said to include all treats and no tricks for the whole family inviting all ghosts, witches, cowboys, superheroes, Barbie’s and more who wish to attend. Attendees will travel through each of the location’s departments to collect goodies. Costumes are encouraged.

Maxwell’s Pumpkin Farm has partnered with the High Plains Food Bank to help fight hunger across the region this Holiday Season during the last weekend of its season. Maxwell’s pumpkins are being sold for $1 this weekend, with part of the proceeds going to the food bank. There are no limits on how many pumpkins can be purchased, but admission is required.
