TTU’s Collier, OSU’s Komar Collect Big 12 Tennis Recognition


Texas Tech’s Reed Collier (men’s) and Oklahoma State’s Anastasiya Komar (women’s) collected the Big 12 tennis awards for the fourth week of the season.

Collier claimed two ranked singles wins in the Red Raiders’ matches against San Diego and SMU. The senior started with a 6-3, 6-0 straight sets victory over San Diego’s No. 31-ranked Iiro Vasa before defeating SMU’s No. 88-ranked Adam Neff 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-3. He added one doubles win on the No. 1 court with teammate Jonas Gundacker over SMU’s duo of Adam Neff and Trevor Svajda 6-4 to help Tech obtain the doubles point. Collier is 5-0 on the season in dual singles matches and 13-1 overall with a 3-0 record over ranked opponents. It is his first career Conference weekly award.

Komar finished a perfect 3-0 with two doubles wins alongside teammate Ange Oby Kajuru and a match-clinching singles win. The redshirt sophomore highlighted her week with the match-clinching singles point over UCLA’s Tian Fangran, the 2023 NCAA singles champion. Komar also helped Oklahoma State collect the doubles point against Old Dominion’s pair of Sofia Johnson and Lidiia Rasskouskaia. It is the sports management major’s first Conference award of her career.
