Turkey by turkey: Food bank closing in on goal for Thanksgiving meal boxes

Gallatin Valley Food Bank staff and volunteers were busy Thursday.

Whether collecting canned and boxed food donations from local elementary schools or repackaging 6,000 pounds of potatoes into 5-pound bags, many had one specific item on their mind: turkeys.

The food bank, a program of the HRDC, is putting together Thanksgiving meal boxes for hungry families with the help of the 24th annual Can the Griz food drive.
