HAPPY HOLIDAYS. WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL. IT’S A THANKSGIVING MEAL THAT JENNY CARDOZA IS GRATEFUL FOR AS FOOD INSECURITY IS ON THE RISE IN YOLO COUNTY, FOOD INSECURITY HAS MANY FACES. FOR OVER A DECADE, THE YOLO COUNTY FOOD BANK HAS BEEN PROVIDING TURKEYS TO THE COUNTY’S MOST VULNERABLE POPULATION. MARNES MUCHO PORQUE ESTA MUY CARO. THIS WEEK, THE FOOD BANK VISITING EIGHT RURAL TOWNS AND PROVIDING ENTIRE DINNER KITS TO 2200 FAMILIES. IT’S WONDERFUL THAT PEOPLE RIGHT HERE CARE ENOUGH TO TO PROVIDE ALL THIS, AND THEY’RE PROVIDING A COMPLETE MEAL. I WASN’T AWARE OF WHAT THEY WERE PROVIDING. AND THERE’S A TURKEY AND VEGETABLES AND ORGANIC. IT’S LOVELY FOR THOSE COMING A FIRST TIME OR THOSE WHO DEPEND ON THIS ASSISTANCE YEARLY. SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST DOWN ON THEIR LUCK FOR A WEEK OR A MONTH OR A YEAR. BUT IT IS IT GOES SUCH A LONG WAYS JUST TO KNOW THAT SOMEONE CARES. Turkey meal kits distributed as Yolo County experiences food insecurity increase
With a 20% increase in Yolo County residents visiting local food banks, the Yolo County Food Bank wanted to make sure that those in the rural parts of the county had an opportunity to get a Thanksgiving dinner.This week, they hosted turkey drives and distributed 850 turkey meal kits in the communities of Clarksburg, Guinda, Dunnigan, Knights Landing, Yolo, Esparto, Winters, and Madison.”We came out today for the food giveaway to get a turkey for Thanksgiving… and whatever else was in there. My son went and picked it up so I’m not sure what else is in the box. I know we are very grateful.
