Türkiye aims for electric, rechargeable hybrid vehicles to hold 35% market share by 2030


Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacir outlined Türkiye’s ambitious goals for the automotive industry during the OPINA Opening Ceremony.

By 2030, Türkiye aims for electric and rechargeable hybrid vehicles to hold a 35% market share, with 75% local content.

Kacir emphasized the industry’s transition from traditional profit areas to electric and autonomous vehicles and shared services.

Türkiye’s automotive sector, with $35.7 billion in exports and employing nearly 500,000 people, is well-positioned for this transformation.

Kacir highlighted the country’s strong R&D and innovation ecosystem and the Mobility Vehicle and Technologies Strategy Roadmap announced in 2022, which sets specific goals for various strategic areas.

The introduction of Türkiye’s electric and intelligent vehicle, Togg, with over 27,000 units on the road, demonstrates the country’s potential for mobility innovation.

Kacir stressed Türkiye’s commitment to becoming a global hub for electric, connected, and autonomous vehicle production, supported by the Technology-Oriented Industry Leap Program and collaboration initiatives with startups.

He underlined the importance of industrial-university cooperation and Türkiye’s significant support for technological innovation in the automotive sector, aiming to foster a dynamic ecosystem conducive to developing cutting-edge mobility solutions.
