A local school got its students out of classroom chairs and into some fun learning activities on Thursday.
The Alberta School of Performing Arts hosted the Fallin’ into Math and Literacy Fall Festival, featuring carnival games focused on reading and math alongside carnival-style treats.
School Literacy Specialist Tanika Perryman said the school wanted to show its students that learning can be fun.
“They can actually have fun learning to read and have fun learning math. We want them to know that learning is fun and we want to make it as fun as possible,” said Perryman.
Student Chole Covington said events like these are what sets this school apart.
“When you think of math, you think of division and multiplication, addition and subtraction,” Chole said. “But when you do come to our school, we do experiences like tonight. You can see math integrated in many different ways.”
