Two arrested for breaking into cars in Gilroy


Two men have been arrested on suspicion of breaking into cars in Gilroy, according to police.The Gilroy Police Department says they received a call Wednesday at 2:05 a.m. about two men trying to break into a vehicle on Shire Street.Police say they received a second call minutes later about two men trying to open vehicles’ doors near Caspian Way and Lusitano Way.Officers received a third call at 5:53 a.m. from someone who said they could see on surveillance footage that two people were inside his car in his driveway near Angra Way and Tecate Lane.Police say the description of the suspects given matched the ones previously given by callers a few hours earlier.Officers responded and found the suspects nearby.They’ve been identified as Izaiah Barrera, 18, and Jose Lendechy Jr., 19.Police say three vehicles were burglarized and the suspects were in possession of personal property taken from the vehicles.The Gilroy Police Department is requesting assistance from the community members who reside in the noted areas to check surveillance cameras for potential evidence or if you have any information regarding these incidents, you are asked to contact the non-emergency number at 408-846-0350.
