LINN COUNTY, Iowa — Deputies with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car crash on East Post Rd. on Thursday night.
Around 7:58 p.m., area emergency crews went to the crash located between Cottage Grove Ave. and Cottage Grove Woods. After getting to the scene, responders found that a white Ford F-150 was driving south on East Post Rd. when it crossed to center line and hit a gray Dodge Caravan going north.
Derrick Dawdy, 39 of Anamosa, was driving the Ford F-150. He was examined by the area ambulance that responded to the call, but refused to be taken to a hospital.
Susan Medberry, 74 of Cedar Rapids, was driving the Dodge Caravan, and also didn’t allow the ambulance crew to take her to the hospital.
It is believed both drivers were wearing their seatbelts when the crash happened.
In a press release sent out by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, it said Dawdy will be charged with multiple traffic violations. It is possible he could face an Operating While Intoxicated charge, but that won’t be determined until the investigation is finished.
