UB CFA Presents Art in the Open

Free and open to the public, the Center for the Arts’ annual event showcases the varied talents of students and faculty.

The UB Center for the Arts (UBCFA) will open its doors to the public and campus community to experience first-hand the energy and diversity of UB’s artistic hub. On Nov. 1, 2023 from 5 – 7:30 p.m., music, dance, theatre, film and visual arts will be showcased, free of charge, through a variety of programs, exhibitions and performances. From painting, sculpture and printmaking to modern dance and musical theatre, attendees will have the opportunity to visit studios where art is being made, screening rooms where original work is being shown and live performances in a variety of spaces.

The nationally renowned street art of “Futura 2000: Breaking Out” will be in the UBCFA First Floor Gallery. Locally celebrated Edreys and Alexa Wajed of Eat Off Art will be hosting “Eat, Sleep, Art, Repeat” an art-making workshop in the gallery’s second floor space and Edreys “Back Together Again” mural installation will be on view in the Center’s Atrium.

“Art in the Open pulls back the curtain and shines the light on all the artistic action that takes place daily in the UBCFA,” said executive director, Jamie Enser. “It gives the Western New York community, as well as our students, an up close look at the creativity we foster and present throughout the year. The depth and breadth of our programs and the talent within our walls is something we are proud of and happy to share.”

In addition to the open studios, complimentary refreshments will be served in the Atrium while DJ Moe Prime, vocalists, musicians and dancers perform throughout the evening.

The UBCFA is is located on UB’s North campus. Parking is free in the designated lots adjacent to the center. For further information and a full listing of participating artists and events, visit ubcfa.org.
