Speaking after the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition attended COP28 in Dubai, Christian Aid’s Head of UK Advocacy and Campaigns Jennifer Larbie said:
“The Prime Minister said he would not measure the UK’s impact at COP28 by the brief hours spent in Dubai, but we have little else to measure it on. His climate commitments are an exercise in creative accounting and repackaging already committed spending, notably on Loss and Damage.
“Vulnerable climate communities across the globe need new and additional money through grants, not loans, so they can act. That is what leading by example on the global stage looks like. Anything less demonstrates a failure to grasp the solutions the world needs.”
