UM Health-Sparrow Ionia opens new rehabilitation center


IONIA — University of Michigan Health-Sparrow has opened a new rehabilitation center in downtown Ionia. 

A dedication and ribbon-cutting for the UM Health-Sparrow Ionia Rehabilitation Center took place Wednesday, May 22. The center is located at 205 S. Dexter St. The space was formerly the Sears Hometown Store. 

UM Health-Sparrow Ionia recently opened its pain management clinic at the site. It will open for rehab services on Monday, June 3. 

“By repurposing an existing building, the project transforms a previously vacant space into a vibrant community asset,” said UM Health-Sparrow Ionia President Linda Reetz.

The new rehab facility is 7,524 square feet, several times larger than the previous rehab center.

Sparrow Ionia Hospital became UM Health-Sparrow Ionia in April. The hospital is located at 3565 S. State Road.
