Uniting and Healing through Hope of Monroe County hosting Thanksgiving food drive


Rochester, N.Y. — A local organization is hosting a food drive for the Rochester community this Thanksgiving.

Uniting and Healing through Hope of Monroe County is now accepting donations for its drive, which will provide holiday meals to those in need through food baskets.

The organization is asking people to try and include the following food items in donation bags:

  • 1 can of fruit cocktail
  • 1 can of pineapple
  • 1 can of corn
  • 1 can of green beans
  • 1 box of spaghetti
  • 1 jar of spaghetti sauce
  • 1 box of rice
  • 1 can of cranberry juice
  • 1 can of frosting
  • 2 cans of yams
  • 2 boxes of scalloped potatoes
  • 2 packets of gravy mix
  • 2 boxes of cake mix
  • 2 boxes of stuffing

The drive coincides with a free Thanksgiving dinner and resource fair hosted by Uniting and Healing through Hope of Monroe County, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 at the East High School Cafeteria from 3 to 7 p.m.

Donations are being accepted through Nov. 20 at participating locations, which includes the 13WHAM News station at 4225 West Henrietta Road. For information on how to make monetary donations, call the organization at 789-1495, email [email protected], or visit the group’s website.

Drop-off times at 13WHAM are Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
