Upcoming animated movies to give you a good laugh


An abundance of movie trailers and announcements have been released after the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists strikes have ended, causing excitement and anticipation among movie lovers. 

The Animation Guild, the union that represents animation artists and writers, and voice actors went on strike with SAG-AFTRA and were prohibited from working on animated movies.Since the strike went on for over 100 days, this ultimately led to movies being delayed. 

While there are movies and series of all genres expected in the near future, audiences can really look forward to the following action-packed and comedic animated movies.

“Inside Out 2”

In Pixar’s only 2024 feature film, Riley is growing up, and her transition into adolescence comes with new emotions. The original emotions featured in the first movie meet a new unexpected roommate — Anxiety, played by Maya Hawke.

The new emotion also hints at other potential emotions coming to join them. While viewers don’t know for sure which ones will be revealed, everyone can expect this movie to be exhilarating. 

“The Garfield Movie”

Just as Garfield loves lasagna, audiences of all ages will love this new movie. The last time viewers saw the hungry orange cat was in 2006, making his return to the big screens long-awaited. 

Garfield, played by Chris Pratt, reunites with his father, Vic, played by Samuel L. Jackson. Together with Odie, Garfield’s dog frenemy, they go on an adventure away from the lavish lifestyle with their owner Jon.

“Despicable Me 4”

While there has not been an official trailer or disclosures about the plot, the newest installation of the beloved “Despicable Me” series is expected to come out in 2024. 

The success of the franchise and the recent film ”Minions: Rise of Gru,” which led to audiences dressing for the occasion wearing suits and ties, can ensure that this film will also be a hit.

“Kung Fu Panda 4”

Jack Black is making a return to the iconic dragon warrior character, Po. While an official trailer hasn’t been released yet, the movie is expected to be in theaters next March. 

Along with Black, the original cast will also make a return to the series. The franchise even teased a potential new look for Po during this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. 

“Elio”

This Pixar movie features a new character who has felt out of place on his home planet. He gets transported to outer space by aliens and goes on an adventure throughout space. 

The animated movie was originally set to be released next year but has been delayed to 2025. While it is unclear the exact reason for the delay, audiences can still expect this movie to be action-packed.
