USDA Farm to School Census 2023 Reminder – Nutrition (CA Dept of Education)

The 2023 Farm to School (F2S) Census (Census) is currently underway! Remember, it is important that all School Food Authorities (SFAs), public, charter, and private, complete the Census whether or not you conduct any farm to school activities so that the results accurately reflect what’s happening in California. This information may be used to demonstrate the need for future funding and resources.

Only one in four California SFAs have returned their surveys, which is below the national average. If you have not completed the Census yet, please submit it now. If you have completed your Census, thank you for participating!

Background

The Census gathers data every four years from SFAs that participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) nationwide. The Census is the best tool for collecting important information that helps support F2S efforts. We want to ensure that all the activities in California are well represented!
