USDA invests in NRCS climate-smart mitigation efforts
USDA is providing more financial assistance to support conservation efforts.
Gayle Barry with the agency’s Natural Resources Conservation Service says the Inflation Reduction Act funds will be distributed based on activities that demonstrate climate change mitigation benefits.
“Thanks to the additional funding, now is a great time for getting conservation on the ground.”
During a webinar Wednesday, she said NRCS provides conservation technical assistance to help famers meet goals for each unique operation.
“We do this conservation planning by coming out to farms and ranches across America, and talking with producers about their resource concerns.”
The mitigation categories include soil health, nitrogen management, livestock partnership, restoration of disturbed lands, and wetlands.
