Usher, Jennifer Goicoechea’s spouse, meant no harm when he made a “love” gesture to Alicia Keys during their 2024 Super Bowl performance.
Alicia Keys and Usher had a powerful hug during their duet during the Super Bowl 2024 Halftime Show, causing some internet buzz.
Several fans were angered by how Usher grabbed the Fallin’ vocalist during their performance of their 2004 smash song, My Boo.
On Monday’s Breakfast Club radio broadcast, hosted by Charlamagne Tha God, the singer of Caught Up admitted to laughing at the controversy with Keys’ husband, Swizz Beatz.
“Absolutely, we laughed about it,” Usher, 45, admitted, which may shock some fans.
Usher also criticized critics’ illogical thinking.
“It’s crazy how people think,” he said. “It’s all about how you present things, man, it’s all about love.”
Usher defended and explained their intense relationship as “literally about having fun because of a song me and Alicia made many years ago, and we celebrate it because of the legacy of it.”
He made it clear that “no disrespect” was intended for anyone with the hug.
Usher’s reaction to the criticism comes after the musician just married his long-term partner Jennifer Goicoechea.
The singer married the music entrepreneur in Las Vegas on February 11, the same day he performed a medley of his greatest hits at the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show, according to a marriage license obtained by TMZ.
