UT Health East Texas goes into divert status after network outage due to possible security incident

TYLER, Texas — UT Health East Texas has announced the hospital is experiencing a network outage due to a possible security incident.

The incident has caused the hospital to go into divert status. According to a 2018 article by the Tyler Paper, when a hospital enacts divert status, patients being transported by ground or air ambulance are directed to another facility.

The statement below was released to CBS19 by UT Health East Texas:

“Earlier today, we became aware of a network outage due to a potential security incident that is affecting UT Health East Texas. As we work to assess the impact of this outage and restore access, we are following established downtime protocols. As a precaution, our emergency rooms are currently on divert status as we work to bring our systems back online. We anticipate that network access will be restored in the next 24-36 hours.”

This is a developing story and CBS19 will update this article as more information becomes available.
