Utah State Women’s Tennis Continues Play at ITA Mountain Regional Championships – Utah State University Athletics


SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State women’s tennis took part in a round of singles and doubles consolation matches at the ITA Mountain Regionals on Saturday. 

In doubles action, fifth-year Zeynep Naz Ozturk and senior Lisa Küng were defeated, 6-3, in their match against Utah’s Katherine Lyman and Sara Akid.  

In singles play, a total of five Aggies participated in consolation matches. 

After winning the first set, 6-4, Küng’s opponent, Colorado State graduate student Victoria Erechtchenko took the match in a third-set victory. 

Ozturk faced Colorado junior Mila Stanojevic in her consolation match where she was defeated, 7-6, 6-4. 

Freshmen Ana Chavez Sanchez, and Niyati Kukreti both lost their consolation matches in straight sets. Sanchez competed against UNLV’s Zita Kovacs and Kukreti faced Colorado sophomore Carri Hayes. 

Junior Indya Nespor earned the only Aggie win of the day in a 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 third-set tiebreaker against Denver sophomore Claudia Martinez de Velasco. 

Utah State women’s tennis continues consolation play at the ITA Mountain Regionals on Sunday, Oct. 22.
