Utica’s Harbor Point Set to Open in June with Community Celebration

UTICA, N.Y. — Utica’s Harbor Point is set to open in June.

According to the City of Utica, the milestone for this project will take place on Thursday, June 5.

Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate the transformation of the recreational and economic hub along the historic waterfront of the Mohawk River and Erie Canalway Trail.

The festivities will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Followingthis, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the public is welcome to partake in a community-wide, family-friendly celebration along the harbor, featuring entertainment, food and various attractions.

Utica Mayor Michael Galime said that this begins a new chapter for the entire district.

“This is the launch of renewed vision to our community, and I could not be more proud to showcase the progress to date, knowing greater milestones lie ahead,” he said.

The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce will also take part in the celebration.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this pivotal moment for Utica as we officially open Harbor Point—a visionary project that redefines our connection to the waterfront,” Executive Director of the Chamber Kari Puleo said.

“This development is more than just a revitalization of space; it’s a bold investment in the future of our community, economy, and quality of life. The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce is proud to stand behind this initiative, and we look forward to the lasting impact it will have on our region,” she added.

Due to limited parking at the Harbor, Centro will have a bus shuttle between the Nexus Center parking lot and Harbor Point.
