UW Choirs Present ‘Journeys’ Nov. 11

The University of Wyoming Department of Music choirs will present “Journeys” at 7:30
p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

Tickets are $12 for the public, $8 for senior citizens and $6 for students. A nominal
processing fee will be charged for each ticket. To purchase tickets, visit the Performing

Bel Canto, conducted by O’Neil Jones, a UW visiting assistant professor, and the Singing
Statesmen, conducted by UW Assistant Professor Brian Murray, will “venture on journeys
near and far” through choral music. The concert also will feature the 7220 Blues and
Happy Jacks.

The Happy Jacks will perform “In My Life” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney; “That
Lonesome Road” by James Taylor and Don Grolnick; and “My Girl” by Smokey Robinson
and Ronald White.

Bel Canto, accompanied by Isabela Araújo, will perform “Alle, Alleluia” by Bruce Tippette;
“Er ist Gekommen” by Clara Schumann; “Fences” by André Thomas; and the world premiere
of “Seek” by J.C. Maynard.

The 7220 Blues will perform “Song” by unknown, while the Singing Statesmen, accompanied
by Alisson Garcia, will perform “Spark of Light” by Andrew Steffen, conducted by UW
graduate student Emily Peterson; and “Loch Lomond” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, featuring
UW Assistant Lecturer Erik Erlandson, baritone.

Also featured will be a new voicing world premiere of “Love: Then and Still” by Susan
LaBarr; “Seigneur, je vous en prie” from “Quatre petites prières de Saint François
d’Assise” by Francis Poulenc; and “Hosanna” by Reginal Wright.
