Vanessa Kirby to Collaborate Again with Benjamin Caron for the Night Always Comes

Vanessa Kirby is poised to collaborate with The Crown’s director Benjamin Caron on an upcoming film, The Night Always Comes.

The film is apparently based on Willy Vlautin’s 2021 novel, which follows “a working-class woman in the Pacific Northwest who embarks on a 24-hour quest to call in old debts and raise enough money to keep a roof over her head,” according to Deadline.

Sarah Conradt, a Seattle-based screenwriter who has previously written Mothers’ Instinct and 50 States of Fright, will write the screenplay for The Night Always Comes.

According to the publication, Andrew Haigh adapted and directed Vlautin’s 2010 book Lean on Pete in 2017. His first book, The Mobile Life, was filmed in 2012.

This new short will be shot in Portland in May, before Kirby begins filming her role as Sue Storm, also known as Invisible Woman, in Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four reboot later this year.

For those unfamiliar, Kirby previously played Princess Margaret in the first two seasons of The Crown, which were primarily directed by Caron, who also directed Andor and Sharper.

Meanwhile, Netflix has bought the rights to this film for release.
