Vanessa Williams has been cast as the famous Miranda Priestly in the upcoming Broadway musical The Devil Wears Prada.
The 60-year-old actress has been cast as the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine in the West End production of the show, which was previously played by Meryl Streep in the original 2006 hit.
Williams posted an Instagram video of herself stomping down the office corridor and taking a seat at Priestly’s desk, captioned “Yes…it’s me.”
“Don’t sit there. “Buy tickets or something,” she remarked to the camera before flipping through the file.
The original picture is based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel of the same title. It follows the antics of ambitious journalist Andrea Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, as she battles to settle in the tight-knit world of the publication.
Williams’ latest character is a logical fit for her, given her iconic performance as evil editorial queen Wilhelmina Slater in the comedy series Ugly Betty.
Elton John’s theatrical musical The Devil Wears Prada will make its debut in October at London’s Dominion Theatre.
