The atmosphere at the shows, totalling 90 in number, was strikingly inclusive, reflecting the rich diversity within the world of fashion. This ethos extended beyond the array of participants to encompass the wide-ranging styles showcased in the collections. Designers devoted considerable focus to exploring their cultural heritage, national customs, and unique identities. Amidst the presentations, alongside designs inspired by traditional attire and artisanal techniques, attendees witnessed nods to early 20th-century constructivism, effortless bohemian flair, and sleek minimalism, contributing to an eclectic and vibrant display.
Maison Suzanna Bars captivated show attendees by transporting them to the enchanting Victorian era through its revitalized Gothic aesthetic. Models elegantly paraded down the runway in sumptuous gowns featuring regal hemlines and snug corsets, evoking the atmosphere of a mysterious Gothic castle’s dim corridors. Delicate lace veils, voluminous cuffs, striking buttons and collars, alongside grand bows and headpieces reminiscent of the Victorian era, meticulously adorned the intricate ensembles.
Lesia Lisun’s collection was imbued with rich historical allusions, as she meticulously explored the significance of seemingly straightforward prints like stripes. The brand eloquently recalled the avant-garde artists of the early 20th century who had reimagined this timeless pattern, infusing contemporary fashion with a spirit of independence and audacity.
US designer Pia Lindsay chose to explore the intriguing realm of contrasts in her latest collection at Moscow Fashion Week. The collection explores powerful combinations, such as the menswear pinstripe used for a commanding power suit, paired with three-dimensional floral pieces and meticulously beaded elements. These features speak to the brand’s deep understanding of fabric, structure, and design, as well as its mastery in creating balanced and unexpected contrasts. ‘Reflecting on the runway collection and hearing feedback from both the international and Russian audience, it’s clear that they truly appreciated the romanticism in each piece. The collection highlighted the femininity of the dresses and captured the enchanting essence of dressing up. It made me realize that fashion seems to be shifting towards greater accessibility,’ says designer Pia Lindsay.
The brand Ogo citizen delved into the theme of alienation that emerges in cross-cultural environments. Their collection employed upcycling techniques and unconventional material pairings, incorporating contrasting elements such as fluffy fibres evoking feathers, accent seams, and scuffing effects.
