MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Video obtained by FOX13 shows someone driving recklessly through the parking lot of Douglass Park in North Memphis, despite the concrete barriers installed by the city.
“They do it every weekend,” said Wayne Washington, who lives across from the park.
The city installed the barriers at Douglass Park as well as Martin Luther King Jr. Riverside Park in Downtown Memphis, in an effort to curb reckless driving.

“Young people, one day the young people will wake up,” Washington said. “They will wake up.”
The city said the barriers are a temporary measure until officials can come up with an alternate solution. Police said they are patrolling parks routinely to catch drivers breaking the law.

Earlier this week, Memphis Police (MPD) put out a PSA video calling for a stop to reckless driving. It is part of a campaign between MPD, the City of Memphis and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
