Vigo Co. Commissioners donate $2,500 to Providence Food Pantry

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County Commissioners Award $2,500 dollars of Community Development Funds to Providence Food Pantry in West Terre Haute.

The check presentation was held Thursday morning at 707 National Avenue.

According to RJL Solutions, the food pantry was a cherished nonprofit for former commissioner Judy Anderson who serves as a lead volunteer for the pantry.

Vigo County Commissioner Chris Switzer spoke about the role the food pantry plays in the community and why the commissioners are glad to help.

“They do a tremendous job for the community,” Switzer said. “People are walking out of here with carts full of food. We couldnt be more thankful for the opportunity they provide for people to have good healthy food so we got together last week former commissioner Judy Anderson called and requested some funding so we offered them $2,500 dollars today.”

Switzer said the Providence Food Pantry has provided over $360,000 meals to those in need since their inception in West Terre Haute.
