Visit Carson City has hired Eric Brooks as its new Arts and Culture Program Manager. Brooks brings more than a decade of experience, having worked as an art director and gallery curator for various nonprofit organizations in northern Nevada.
Brooks began his role at Visit Carson City on Monday, Nov. 6, 2023. He is responsible for implementing, organizing, managing and evaluating programs and initiatives that promote cultural tourism and the arts in Nevada’s capital city.
This includes special events, festivals and public art projects. His role will also include collaborating with tourism industry partners, arts and culture organizations, community groups and schools to promote program awareness and to advance the overall efforts of Carson City’s arts and culture tourism programs.
“Coupled with his creative energy and passion for promoting the arts, Eric brings a wealth of experience to Visit Carson City’s arts and culture program,” David Peterson, Executive Director of Visit Carson City, said. “He recognizes the value of partnering with the community and area businesses to build and maintain a successful arts and culture environment that will attract visitors and engage local residents. I look forward to working with Eric as he leads Carson City’s cultural tourism and arts administration.”
Prior to joining Visit Carson City, Brooks served as the gallery curator and special events and community liaison for the Brewery Arts Center. He was also the gallery curator for the Sierra Arts Foundation and the creative director for Art Spot Reno. As an artist-in-residence at an arts center in Scotland, he led the creation of a large-scale fundraising project with more than 40 artists. Throughout his career, he has pursued projects as an artist himself, creating mixed media pieces and fine art sculptures.
“Using my varied skill sets, I’m excited to create and implement programming and initiatives that will further establish Carson City as a tourist destination,” Brooks said. “I look forward to developing arts and culture programs that also improve public spaces and provide enriching experiences for residences.”
