Visual Arts Center of New Jersey elects new board member

The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (VACNJ) has elected Monica Vir, a corporate attorney, to its board of trustees. Vir’s term will run from February 2025 through June 2028.

As co-chair of the Corporate and M&A Group and a member of the Real Estate Services Group at Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper, P.C., Vir brings extensive legal experience to the role. She advises family businesses as well as large national and international corporations across various industries, with particular expertise in real estate, healthcare, technology, and nonprofits.

Vir is also an active community member, serving on the boards of Hometowne Television and Supportive Housing Association of New Jersey. She co-founded Lindabury’s Women’s Business Initiative to support professional women’s business and mentoring relationships. In 2015, the New Jersey Law Journal recognized Vir as a New Leader of the Bar, and NJBIZ named her one of its top “40 Under 40” for outstanding achievement.

“We are thrilled to welcome Monica to the Art Center’s Board of Trustees,” said Melanie Cohn, Executive Director of VACNJ. “Her wealth of experience and passion for the arts will be invaluable in advancing our mission and expanding our impact.”

The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, located at 68 Elm St. in Summit, has been “dedicated to contemporary art for more than 90 years.” The nonprofit organization’s Studio School, exhibitions, and outreach initiatives serve thousands of youths, families, seniors, and people with special needs each year.
