Vivek Oberoi shares insights on balancing fame, lifestyle, and financial struggles; ' I don't need to do a movie that I don't believe in...'

Vivek Oberoi recently spoke about the struggles he faced in Bollywood. He shared how the pressure to maintain a certain lifestyle can be tough, especially during financial hardships.
At the Franchise India event, Vivek Oberoi opened up about the ups and downs of his acting career. He shared valuable lessons he learned from his journey.
The actor compared the film industry to a rollercoaster, explaining how success can make one feel unstoppable, with the world cheering them on, while failure can be just as challenging and isolating.
The ‘Omkara’ star shared how his career highs and lows taught him how quickly an actor’s circumstances can change, often leading to financial struggles. He revealed that he once measured his success by the number of bouquets he received on his birthday.
He explained, “When you are doing well, there’s no place in the house for the bouquets that come in from producers, directors, co-stars; it’s just filled up. And when your films are not doing well, the number of bouquets starts to reduce, and you realize, ‘Oh! I am not doing too well, am I?’”.
He spoke about the social pressure on Bollywood actors to maintain a certain lifestyle, which often comes at a great cost. This realization motivated him to build a parallel career as a businessman, ensuring he wouldn’t have to take up films purely for financial reasons.
“This is what has empowered me today, where I don’t need to do a movie that I don’t believe in, or I don’t like the script because dal-roti chalani hai, EMI bharna hai”, he said.”
Further he highlighted the misconception that actors live stress-free lives, explaining that they face unique challenges. He shared how actors get used to a certain lifestyle and feel social pressure to maintain it, which demands significant financial resources.
On the professional front, Vivek was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s web series ‘Indian Police Force’, alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Shilpa Shetty.
