Volkswagen has introduced the fully redesigned 2025 Tiguan. Built on the MQB evo platform, the third-generation Tiguan is now offered exclusively in a two-row configuration for the North American market.
The exterior design incorporates fresh sheet metal, a shorter rear overhang, and an increased wheelbase. A higher front profile with slimmer headlights, an available LED light bar, and an illuminated logo contribute to its modern aesthetic, much like the current Atlas SUVs. At the rear, a spoiler and D-pillar elements enhance aerodynamics. Wheel options range from 17-inch designs for the Trendline trim to sharper 20-inch wheels on the R-Line. Three new colour options—Avocado Green Pearl, Ascot Grey, and Monterey Blue Pearl—expand the palette.
Inside, the Tiguan features a refined cabin with upgraded materials, including open-pore American walnut wood and quilted Savona leather seating, depending on the trim. The gear selector has been relocated to the steering column, freeing space in the centre console. Other notable updates include Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit Pro (10.25-inch standard), a central infotainment system with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, and customizable “Atmospheres,” which synchronize ambient lighting and audio settings. Also available are a head-up display, a 15-inch infotainment screen, and ambient lighting with up to 30 colours dependent on trim, and a premium 12-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system.
Under the hood, the Tiguan is powered by a revised 2.0-litre turbocharged EA888 engine, delivering 201 horsepower—an increase from the previous 184 horsepower. Weight savings of 77 kilograms, achieved through the use of aluminum in the suspension and high-strength steel in the body, contribute to improved fuel efficiency and handling. Final fuel consumption figures will be announced later.
The new Tiguan includes ten airbags, including driver knee, centre, and rear side airbags. Standard IQ.DRIVE driver assistance features include Travel Assist, Lane Assist, and Front Assist, among others. Additional options include Park Assist Plus and a head-up display.
Pricing and availability for the 2025 Tiguan will be disclosed closer to its launch.
