Washington Nhenderere Granted Bail Amid Crackdown on Clamping Gadg…


Washington Nhenderere, a motorist embroiled in a recent assault case, was granted bail during a court appearance. Nhenderere is facing charges for attacking a Tendy Three Investments (TTI) parking marshal on January 26, after being asked to pay a mere $1 parking fee. The marshal reportedly endured a barrage of open-handed hits and punches from the motorist. Following the incident, Nhenderere was apprehended by officers from the Bulawayo Central Police station. This case comes to light amid a concerted operation by the traffic management company, local law enforcement, and the Central Vehicle Registry department to crack down on motorists found tampering with clamping gadgets.

Motorist’s Arrest

Nhenderere’s arrest followed an incident where he allegedly assaulted a TTI parking marshal over a $1 parking fee dispute. The marshal was reportedly struck multiple times with open hands and fists, leading to Nhenderere’s arrest by the Bulawayo Central Police station. Following the incident, he was granted bail of US$200 and is due for trial on February 12.

Crackdown on Clamping Gadget Tampering

This case surfaces at a time when traffic management authorities, along with the police and Central Vehicle Registry department, are implementing a joint operation targeting motorists who tamper with clamping gadgets. Motorists found guilty of such behavior face a hefty $150 fine. Additionally, if their vehicle ends up being towed away, they are liable for impounding fees of $30 per hour.
