Way woman styles her thrift-shop finds has viewers hooked

Making your home look stylish doesn’t have to be expensive at all. A woman has gone viral after sharing a video of all the items she bought for her home at a thrift shop, against how she actually styled them, and the results will surprise you.

In a viral clip shared on TikTok in February under the username @kenziemariehome, the poster can be seen choosing some home items at the thrift shop. They may look like nothing special on the shelf, but she gives them new life once she styles them at home.

Thrifting is a trend that is becoming ever more popular among youngsters, especially when it comes to fashion.

In 2019, the second-hand clothing market was worth $28 billion, and it is projected to grow to $80 billion by 2029, according to business magazine Fast Company.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across Instagram. It has so far received over 1.9 million views and 191,200 likes on the platform.

A caption reads: “What I thrifted vs how I styled it part 134.” The first item she bought was a porcelain swan for $3.99, which she then styled as a brushholder for the kitchen sink. Next up is a golden reading lamp that she bought for $4 and then placed in her kitchen next to all wooden boards and golden utensils.

The most expensive item in the clip was a clear tray with stand, which she bought for only $12.99, and then filled with pink flowers, candles and candies. She also bought a clay vase for $8, which she repurposed as a utensil holder, a small jewellery box for $6, and an art book for $1, which she turned into an ornament.

One user, nikolemeske, commented: “My brain simply cannot formulate ideas like this.” And Crafted Hive Culture posted: “You have such an eye, love how you styled them!”

SkipperMom1 wrote: “Seriously that acrylic tray table was worth hundreds ,.. great buy!” And Leslie added: “Just letting you know that that brown pot thingy you used for your utensils is actually traditionally used to cook food (mostly beans) in Mexico.”

Another user, dozer699, commented: “I’m not sure if you have any grandparents but they always have lovely items. I have great things from my grandparents and my mom as well in my home.”
