Wayne State’s Fall 2023 Senior Art exhibit “box of trinkets” opens Wednesday

Nov. 9, 2023 (WAYNE, Neb.) – “Box of Trinkets,” featuring artwork by four Wayne State College seniors, opens Wednesday, Nov. 29, with a 4:30 p.m. reception in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery, located on the main level of U.S. Conn Library. The exhibit is free and open to the public through mid-January 2024.

Exhibiting artists include art education majors Betsy Eckstrom, Palmer; Hallie Jensen, Seward; and Lakia Eilts, Le Mars, Iowa; and studio arts major Adam Boggs, Tilden.

The student artwork celebrates charming, playful, and retrospective works. Students use printmaking, multimedia, painting, sculpture, and ceramics to detail unique perspectives.

Eckstrom elevates elements of nature through color and texture. Boggs depicts wielding confidence in conflict despite improbable odds. Capturing human characteristics in geometric form dominates Jensen’s art, while Eilts shares personal memories with retrospective works. United, the art connects into the “Box of Trinkets.”

The gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 3 to 7 p.m. It is closed Saturday. Shows end at noon on closing day.
