THURSDAY

Visit CU Boulder’s Mackey Auditorium as the Center of the American West welcomes its first in-house exhibition of the season. Charrería: Exploring the human-horse connection in Mexican Rodeo features 21 stunning black & white and color photographs taken by CU alum Chris Sessions, this exhibit explores the human-horse connection in charrería, the national sport of Mexico. THURSDAY-SUNDAY

The Denver Auto Show, which holds the distinction as the third-oldest auto show in the United States behind New York and Chicago, is a must-attend event for anyone with a passion for cars. The show will once again take place at the Colorado Convention Center on Thursday (12-5 p.m.), Friday (10 a.m.-10 p.m.), Saturday (10 a.m.-10 p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m.-6 p.m.). This year’s auto show will feature exhibits both old and new, including historical vehicles from the Forney Museum of Transportation as well as an electric vehicle test track where attendees can test-drive EVs. FRIDAY

Friday marks Rockies Opening Day, which means lower Downtown will be abuzz with excitement for baseball’s return. If you don’t have a ticket to see the Blake Street bombers, there will be plenty of free events and watch parties to check out including Mile High Spirits’ event which will feature DJs, food trucks and prizes, McGregor Square’s opening day party, which will show all the action on a 66-inch screen, and Dairy Block’s Gameday on the Block, which will feature live music, chalk murals and food and drink specials. Union Station will also be hosting an opening day patio party. These are just a few examples of the many opening day festivities that will take place on Friday.

The Taste of Vail, now in its 32nd year, originated from the collaboration of passionate food and wine aficionados back in 1990. As a non-profit entity, their mission revolves around championing culinary talents and vineyards within the region and beyond. The event holds aspirations to forge strong partnerships with inventive chefs, winemakers, brewers, and distillers eager to showcase their distinctive approaches and creations. The weekend event consists of 19 different tasting events ranging from $85-295. SATURDAY-SUNDAY

Several Colorado ski resorts will host pond skimming events this weekend as they ramp down to close winter operations, including Crested Butte, Powderhorn and Keystone. Keystone’s event will feature a kid-sized skimming pool and samplings from vendors including Kona Brewing. Crested Butte’s event will conclude their Ski Town Breakdown music event as Viking Sound Machine will be spinning beats at Butte 66 from 3:30-5 p.m. Sunday, April 7 will mark closing day at Powderhorn and the lower terrain park will be replaced with a pond skim from 1-3 p.m. For more details and registration, visit their website.
