WELSH, La. (KPLC) – A 26-year-old was arrested today, March 14, after he allegedly stole the battery out of a car parked in a homeowner’s garage and burglarized multiple residences in Welsh.

Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Office detectives began their investigation on Feb. 21, 2024, after receiving a report that a man’s car battery had been stolen while he and his family were away for the weekend. The man reported other items were stolen and damage to his home.

Three days later, on Feb. 24, another house on the same road, Courville Road, was burglarized, according to Chief Deputy Chris Ivey. The complainants of the burglary also reported stolen items and damage to their home.

Detectives arrested Nathan Scott Flemmons, 26, of Welsh, in connection with the burglaries, and he faces charges of two counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, burglary of a vehicle, and two counts of simple criminal damage to property.

Flemmons was booked into the Jeff Davis Parish jail.
