Wes Anderson recently told people who try to copy his style that he doesn’t watch their movies.
In an interview with The Times, Anderson said that he didn’t want to see people copy his unique style.
Anderson said that he wanted to keep himself safe from this kind of material, so he deleted any that was sent to him and tried to avoid comparisons that might affect his own work.
“I’m very good at protecting myself from seeing all that stuff,” he said.
“If somebody sends me something like that I’ll immediately erase it and say, ‘Please, sorry, do not send me things of people doing me.’ Because I do not want to look at it, thinking, ‘Is that what I do? Is that what I mean?’ I don’t want to see too much of someone else thinking about what I try to be because, God knows, I could then start doing it.”
Anderson doesn’t think it’s important to look at how other people try copying his style, since that could affect his work. People think that bad copies of great works are entertaining, which is why there are so many of them.
Anderson’s unique style is hard to copy, with its symmetrical designs and careful attention to detail.
