The William Floyd girls’ varsity tennis team, under the leadership of two-time United States Tennis Association Coach of the Year Dave Pia, were recently honored at the Suffolk County Awards Dinner at Villa Lombardi’s with 10 individual awards! The Colonials put together another tremendous season with a 12-4 record (7-1 in league play), a division championship, an elite eight championship and final four championship honors.
The Colonials have been the epitome of consistency and success, qualifying for postseason play for 21 consecutive seasons! This past season was the third consecutive year winning their division (42-6 regular season record in that span), and ninth time in the last 12 years that they reached the semifinals in the county tournament, winning the county title after the 2014 season.
Congratulations to the talented student-athletes, who took home All-County and All-League honors, as well as to Coach Pia and assistant coach Michael Clauberg on another fantastic season!
“Congratulations to the entire team for all your accomplishments,” said Coach Pia. “Your hard work, dedication and success makes the William Floyd School District extremely proud!”
