What’s that? New Dexter business helps people reach their health goals

DEXTER, MI – A new spot recently opened in Dexter where people can keep up with their healthy New Year’s resolutions for 2024.

Pulse Nutrition officially opened on Monday at 7045 Dexter-Ann Arbor Road. The new business serves protein shakes, energy teas and other protein-filled menu items.

“We are a healthy cafe and somewhere that also pairs that with community,” Owner Lynnea Harris said. “I want you to walk out feeling better than when you came in.”

There are more than 70 protein shake flavors including chocolate chip pancake, blueberry muffin, Lucky Charms, frosted animal cookie, thin mint cookie and even peanut butter and jelly.

The shakes are divided into categories like breakfast, chocolate, fruity, peanut butter and dessert.

Harris said her favorite menu items are the Peanut Butter Oreo and Cinnamon Toast Crunch protein shakes as well as the Pink Nerds energy tea, which is a mix of pink lemonade and pink Starburst.

Protein shakes can be used as a meal replacement, Harris said, adding all the shakes are 300 calories or less with a standard 24 grams of protein.

“We feel safe saying this is definitely a meal replacement because you’re not missing out on anything that the body needs,” she said.

Pulse Nutrition also plans to feature seasonal menu items for fall and winter in the future.

As a former athlete, Harris said she fell in love with the products she consumed at other similar nutrition shops, and this eventually led her to open her own business.

“Health, fitness and wellness have always been something top on my mind and something I’ve been passionate about so when I found I could pair it with community — I loved the concept,” she said.

Harris is from Belleville but said Dexter’s small-town atmosphere drew her in.

“I love everything about small towns including the way they support their businesses and their people,” she said.

Along with shakes, the new nutrition shop also expects to offer wellness evaluations as soon as possible to help customers reach their goals whether they wish to lose weight or gain muscle.

After only a few days being open, Harris said she is floored with the amount of support and excitement her business has already received. She said she “couldn’t have asked for it to go any better.”

“On top of having great nutrition, good tasting shakes and teas – I want people to feel genuinely better when they leave,” she said. “If I can offer that to you then I feel like I’ve done my job and served my purpose.”

Pulse Nutrition is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Find the new business on social media or by phone at 734-253-2306.
