HOW’S IT LOOKING OUT THERE, JAKE? HEY, MATT AND CAITLIN, GOOD MORNING. WELL, AS YOU CAN SEE, THE RAIN HAS KIND OF CLEARED UP SINCE THAT OVERNIGHT RAIN. AND IT’S GOING TO BE A LESS CONCERNING NOW FOR DRIVERS OUT ON THE ROAD FOR DANGEROUS CONDITIONS. I WANT YOU TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE TRAFFIC HERE ON ROUTE 30 IN YORK COUNTY. THIS WILL BE THE BUSIEST TRAVEL DAY OF THE YEAR. IT’S ESTIMATED THAT ABOUT 690,000 VEHICLES WILL BE JUST ON THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE TODAY. TO PUT THAT INTO PERSPECTIVE, THAT’S AVERAGES ABOUT 479 CARS, TRUCKS AND OTHER VEHICLES ENTERING THE HIGHWAY EVERY MINUTE, ACCORDING TO TRIPLE A, THE WORST TIME TO TRAVEL WITH THERE BEING THE MOST TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD IS FROM 2 TO 6 P.M. AND PENNDOT SAYS SOME OF THE TOP CONCERNS TODAY ARE INCREASES OF CRASHES AS THAT GENERALLY COMES WITH MORE TRAFFIC. SO DRIVERS SHOULD BE PATIENT AND TAKE EXTRA CARE ON THE ROADWAYS. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU DO SOME BASIC THINGS. ALWAYS WEAR THAT SEATBELT, BUT DON’T BE THE IMPAIRED DRIVER. DON’T BE THE AGGRESSIVE DRIVER. MAKE SURE YOUR GAS TANK IS FILLED UP IN YOUR WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE WORKING AND MAKE SURE YOU PACK SOME EXTRA SNACKS, WATER, CELL PHONE CHARGERS, JUST IN CASE THERE’S SOME KIND OF INCIDENT THAT STOPS YOU. AND LOOK, IF THERE ARE ANY DETOURS TODAY FROM ANY DEVELOPING CRASHES, YOU CAN MONITOR THEM YOURSELF AND SEE IF THAT AFFECTS YOUR ROUTES ONLINE
