BLACKPINK has sparked a flutter of suspicion after it was revealed that the female group was planning to split up.
With allegations claiming that several members of the foursome were unwilling to remain under their label, YG Entertainment, speculation over the group’s demise began.
BLACKPINK members Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé inked a seven-year contract with their label in 2016.
Their contract is slated to expire near the end of 2023, according to their agreement.
This, of course, creates concerns about their future as a group, and unless the women agree to a new contract, they will be forced to pursue solo careers.
However, Sports Seoul stated that the band may be asking for a more flexible contract, one that allows them to pursue their solo interests while honoring their group duties.
According to the publication, the singers were in “last-minute discussions” to devise a “separate yet together strategy” in which they could sign with rival companies.
