This year for the first time ever, Houston will celebrate Pride with two parades—one from the newly-formed group New Faces of Pride on June 22, and one from long-standing group Pride Houston 365 on June 29. The dual pride celebrations come after a handful of years in which the city’s pride festival was scaled back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, excessive Houston heat, and financial issues.
But Pride is about more than just parades. From family-friendly events to fundraisers, pool parties to choir performances, June is about celebrating defiance, equality, and community. Below, find a list of Chron’s recommended Pride events for the month of June, and check back frequently as more events are added,
2024 Skate Sober

Pride Month Kickoff CrossFit Class

Families with Pride

District C Council Member Abbie Kamin will host the third annual Families with Pride citywide celebration in partnership with the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce. This kid-friendly event will include live entertainment, hands-on art projects, Pride Storytime with the Houston Public Library’s Curiosity Cruiser, food trucks, and a Proud Puppy Pawty at 9 a.m. at the Discovery Green Dog Run featuring prizes for the best dog costume. Harmony in Motion
June 1
The Ranch, a yoga community and sustainable farm, will host a Pride kick-off yoga class and celebration focused on cultivating harmony within oneself and the greater community. No yoga experience necessary and all fitness levels welcome. Admission is free to the first 50 registrants, $10 otherwise. 5–7 p.m. 4427 Fuqua St.
Queer Prom

Pearl Bar, one of the country’s few remaining lesbian bars, will host a prom night for those who didn’t get to attend the first time or who want to have the prom they’ve always imagined. The party, hosted by promoter Bibi, will include photo booths, a raffle, prizes for best dressed and more. Free before 9 p.m., $5 after. 4216 Washington Ave.
Pride Market and Kickoff Party
June 2
More than 25 vendors will showcase their apparel, food and other items in the Biergarten at Karbach Brewing, along with DJs, food trucks, performances, prizes and more to kick off Pride month. The party is free and family-friendly. 11 a.m. 2032 Karbach St.
Happy Hour with Pride Chorus Houston

The Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University will host a happy hour featuring the Pride Chorus Houston singing a capella renditions of classic queer anthems. The Moody will also offer complimentary drinks, the opportunity to make kitschy crafts and a chance to see the exhibit Resonant Earth. Hair is Fun
June 8
This kid-focused event will help children learn about diversity and self-confidence by learning how to be a barber (using mannequins as models) at the Northwest Educational Center cosmetology school. Pride 5K Fun Run

Grand Marshal Day Party

This family-friendly, all-ages party will celebrate the multiple grand marshals publicly elected to lead Houston’s 46th annual Pride Parade. They include Joelle Espeut, director of programming at Normal Anomaly, Harris Co. Commissioner Lesley Briones, and political activist Olivia Julianna. Soaked Pool Party

Houston’s New Faces of Pride Festival and Parade

The first New Faces of Pride parade and festival’s theme will be Rainbow Revolution, “all about celebrating progress, embracing change, igniting the spirit of unity and reflecting our mission as an organization to raise as many funds as possible for our community non-profits.” Featuring more than 350 vendors and performances by Billy Gilman, Lauren Sanderson, Chris Housman and more, the free event runs from noon to 10 p.m. Admission to the festival starts at $3, the parade is free. Planet Pink Afterparty

6th Annual Pride Brunch & Montrose Center Fundraiser

Now organized by New Faces of Pride, this event raised more than $58,000 for the Montrose Center in 2023. The brunch at Heights Social will feature craft cocktails and mocktails, DJ Chad Guidry, and hourly drag performances by Sinema LaRue and Lucy Paradisco. Pride Night With the Houston Astros

For the fourth year, the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce will partner with the Houston Astros for Pride Night. Celebrations include a special ticket package featuring an Astros Pride Night jersey, a pre-game happy hour in the Michelob Ultra Club, and special pre-game ceremonies. Plus, it’s Dollar Dog Night. Rock the Runway

A Houston Pride tradition, this annual event features LGBTQIA+ designers, models, DJs and more. Rainbow on the Green

46th Annual Houston Pride Parade and Festival
June 29
Held annually since 1979, this Pride parade and celebration is the largest gay pride event in Texas and one of the largest in the South. This year’s parade and festival will begin at City Hall and include cooling tents, a Family Fun Zone, entertainers, music and more. Pride Night With the Houston Dynamo
