HBO’s The White Lotus has added a new member to its cast: it’s Lisa, member of the Korean girl group Blackpink, Variety exclusively reports. In season three she is credited as her full name, Lalisa Manobal. The role she will play is still unknown, just like the rest of the third season’s cast. Production of the show is set to start in the next few days in Bangkok, Thailand, and Koh Samui, Phuket. The plot of the show is a secret also except for one slim piece of information: it will focus on The White Lotus resort’s new guests.

The White Lotus’ role for Manobal will be her first time acting in a TV show, according to Variety. She is the second Blackpink member to have participated in an HBO series. Jennie (credited by her full name Jennie Ruby Jane also) was the first person in the group to do so with the HBO show The Idol, participating alongside Lily-Rose Depp and The Weekend, which premiered on the streamer in Jun. 2023. Manobal is represented by Lloud Co. as an actress. As a singer, she is under contract with YG Entertainment, as a Blackpink member and soloist.
The HBO series has been a sudden success, according to Variety, with its debut on the streamer in 2021. Season one was based in Hawaii and has received ten Emmy trophies, including for two categories: anthology series and best limited series. Season two was released in Dec. 2022, December 2022 and based in Sicily. That second season has made the show earn five Emmy wins and 23 nominations, especially for the best drama series category.
The creator, executive producer, and director of The White Lotus, according to Variety, is Mike White. Other executive producers are Mark Kamine and David Bernad. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has contracted a deal with HBO to help promotion of the show’s third season and filming which, as stated beforehand, will begin soon.
The first two seasons of The White Lotus are available to stream now on HBO.
