Why K-Pop Girl Band Blackpink Didn’t Perform at the 2023 MTV VMAs

Even though they were nominated, the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK has chosen not to go to the star-studded MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). This has upset their fans.

The South Korean all-girl band, which is made up of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, was not there for the red carpet or the major event.

Pink Venom by BLACKPINK was nominated for four awards: Best K-Pop video, Best Choreography, Best Art Direction, and Best Editing.

Elle said that no one knew where the members of BLACKPINK were during the 2023 VMAs, but that Rosé had been seen in New York before the event.

Before, on September 9, Rosé was seen with Taylor Swift at Electric Lady Studios.

Fans of the K-pop group thought that the girls must have a busy schedule because reports say that BLACKPINK is getting ready to perform in Seoul at the sold-out end of their Born Pink World Tour.

This was the best year for the Korean girl group. In April, they were the first K-pop band to be the main act at Coachella.

Rosé told Billboard, “It feels absolutely unreal.” She was talking about their huge success.

“I think performing for Coachella in 2019 was a moment that really woke us up as BLACKPINK—to be motivated, to dream on and dream big. But we never expected anything as big as being the headliner of a festival we’ve all grown up admiring and hoping someday we could find ourselves in the crowd of.”
