Sebastian Stan is certainly coming back to Marvel, and it will happen soon.
Sebastian Stan came to Sundance this year to attend the global premiere of A24’s A Different Man, which stars Adam Pearson and Renate Reinsve.
The three performers discussed the film with director Aaron Schimberg at the Variety Studio, which was sponsored by Audible. The film is about a young actor with a facial deformity who undergoes a radical medical procedure to modify his appearance, which ultimately leads to his death.
While addressing the new film, the actor mentioned his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Stan will once again play the Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes in Thunderbolts.
“I’m excited. I’m going to go back basically in a month or so. I’ve missed it. It’s a great cast,” the actor added, before discussing Marvel’s recent box office struggles.
“The batting average is so high that it’s difficult to always land everything right away. It’s always been a great experience. With this one in particular, I think there’s a lot of good things.”
Stan also discussed his character and performing in A Different Man.
Stan told Variety’s Matt Donnelly that it took only 22 days to shoot A Different Man.
The actor spent “probably one and a half to two hours” in the makeup chair to appear in sequences with a facial deformity.
Pearson, a British actor who has neurofibromatosis and is best known for his role in Under the Skin, feels that A Different Man would provide new representation for actors with facial deformities in the film business.
A24 plans to distribute A Different Man in theatres sometime in 2024.
