EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A 26-year-old Evansville woman was arrested after police say she let a child drive a car and endangered others on the road.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, EPD officers say a man called 911 to report his sister-in-law Lindsey Pearson took three kids out “joyriding”.
According to an affidavit, Pearson admitted to picking up the three children after having a drink at Rick’s Sports Bar.
Pearson reportedly told police that she was trying to teach one of the juveniles, a 12-year-old boy, how to drive.
Officers say she admitted the child drove her and the two other juveniles on Pollack Avenue and then south towards the riverfront and back.
When asked, Pearson claimed she did not know that 12-year-olds could not drive vehicles on public roads.
Officers say Lindsey was taken into custody and was screaming loudly outside the apartment complex at two in the morning.
EPD reports that Pearson pulled away while they were trying to search her.
Pearson was arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of child neglect. resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct and criminal recklessness.
