Woman dies after being hit by car in Rupert


Police said the crash happened near Minico High School.

RUPERT, Idaho — A woman from Rupert has died after police said she walked onto the westbound lanes of Highway 25 and was hit by a car.

According to Idaho State Police (ISP), the crash happened Saturday, Nov. 4 around 7:30 p.m., near Minico High School. Police said the 56-year-old woman from Rupert was walking on the shoulder of the highway when she walked out into a lane and was hit by a 28-year-old man from Kingman, Arizona driving a 2015 Toyota Camry.

The woman died from her injuries at the scene. The man driving the Camry was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

Traffic was blocked for about three hours while crews cleared the scene. ISP is investigating the crash.
