Woman fatally struck by car while crossing street in St. Petersburg


TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A 59-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car on Tuesday morning.

The St. Petersburg Police Department was called to the crash at 7:11 a.m.

A black Toyota Camry was heading west on 22nd Avenue South near 7th Street South when it struck a pedestrian, later identified as Opprittee Morris, 59. Morris was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk, according to St. Pete police.

She was taken to Bayfront Health hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

St. Pete police say the crash is under investigation.
