Woman killed after being hit by car on Second Street Bridge Thursday morning identified


LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A woman was hit and killed on the Second Street Bridge on Thursday morning.

According to LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, the call came in around 6:22 a.m. of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on the Second Street bridge.

Investigation revealed a woman was walking in the roadway of the bridge when she was hit.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 38-year-old Aaron Nifong died from her injuries. 

The bridge was closed while officials conducted their investigation, according to Mitchell.

It was the second fatal crash involving a pedestrian. An LMPD spokesman said a man died after he was hit by a vehicle on I-64 East near Slugger Field just before 7 a.m.

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating.
