Woman seriously hurt in Decatur after car vs. semi crash


DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A woman was airlifted from the scene in Decatur after her car collided with a semi on Wednesday afternoon.

Decatur Police Officers responded to the intersection of Brush College Road and Commercial Crossing at 3:12 p.m. An investigation suggested that a car was traveling south on Commercial Crossing at Brush College Rd. Meanwhile, a semi-truck was traveling north on Brush College Rd. towards Commercial Crossing.

The car stopped at the stop sign at Brush College Rd., then turned left into the intersection. The semi, which police say had the right of way, crashed into the driver’s side of her car.

The semi driver, a 64-year-old Maroa man, was not hurt. The car driver, a 35-year-old woman from Lovington, was severely hurt. She was airlifted to a regional trauma center.

Police say that there are currently no indications that either driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The Decatur Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
