A lingerie expert has shared tips to women who are hopping on the skimpy thongs bandwagon ahead this festive season.
The trend came after an Australian TikToker was stunned to find her friends prefer to wear briefs over thongs.
Rachael Taylor’s video went viral as she called it “crazy” that women wear G-string as “everyday underwear”.

The 24-year-old said: “Most of them say ‘I wear a G-string everyday, I never really wear anything else except if I’m on my period or to bed’.

“I’m not here rocking granny panties but not a G-string. I feel like I have to do it now because statistically everyone’s doing it now, but I’m also comfortable as I am.”
Mel Marsden, founder of lingerie brand Lounge, said their customers also prefer to wear thongs over briefs and she explained what makes the string-like underwear comfortable enough to wear every day.
She explained: “Thongs are comfortable if you find the perfect fit, we recommend that the thong sits nicely on your hips or waist with just enough room for movement.

“Choosing the fabric of your thongs is key, many of our styles are made from Bamboo fabric composition which is suitable for highly sensitive skin meaning your underwear can be worn for long periods of time.”
“Once you’ve found your most comfortable thong it doesn’t stop there, caring for them properly is also key.
“We recommend washing them inside an underwear care bag on a 30°C wash with a gentle detergent and leaving them to dry on a drying rack or washing line.”
