Box Score MILWAUKEE — Central Michigan Women’s Basketball was unable to slow down an impressive three-point effort Saturday in a 84-59 loss to Milwaukee.
 
The Chippewas (1-4) thoroughly outrebounded the Panthers (4-3), 41-28, with a sizable 15-8 margin on the offensive glass.
 
Central Michigan also took advantage of its opportunities at the free throw line, 17-of-20, the team’s best in a game with at least 20 attempts since December 18, 2022, at Eastern Illinois (27-of-31). The Chippewas had shot just 60.9 percent from the charity stripe to start the season.
 
CMU flashed its defensive efforts through the contest as Nadege Jean (Richton, Ill. / Rich South) marked a new career high of three steals within the first three minutes of the second quarter while Karrington Gordon (Detroit, Mich. / Lincoln Park) tied Jean and her own career mark with a stubborn third-quarter effort. Taylor Anderson (South Lyon, Mich. / East) snuck in a career high of two blocks in the fourth quarter.
 
Jean came away with at least a share of the team’s lead in points (13), rebounds (8) and steals (3) while contributing five offensive boards to the team’s 15. Gordon and Rochelle Norris (Stafford, Va. / New Hope) found double digits in scoring, 13 and 11 points respectively, sharing Jean’s team highs in steals and rebounds, respectively.
 
Milwaukee posted an overwhelming 17-of-32 clip from beyond the arc for the afternoon, a pace that stayed above 50 percent throughout the contest. The Panthers’ Anna Lutz and Angie Cera combined for a nine-of-12 outing from deep for 42 of their squad’s 84 points on the afternoon.
 
Central Michigan Women’s Basketball returns to McGuirk Arena next Saturday (Dec. 2, 1 p.m.) to host Indiana State for its final home contest of 2023. The Mid-American Conference slate begins after the New Year with back-to-back home games against Bowling Green (Jan. 3, 7 p.m.) and Buffalo (Jan. 6, 1 p.m.)
